Giant Steps

The Giant's Causeway on the north Antrim coast is Northern Ireland's most popular tourist attraction. According to legend, the interlocking basalt columns are the remains of a causeway built by an Irish giant, Fionn mac Cumhaill. Apparently Fionn was challenged to a fight by the Scottish giant Benandonner. He accepted the challenge and built the causeway across the North Channel so that the two giants could meet.

This 3 minute exposure was taken on a calm, overcast evening. The cormorant on the most distant rock was very obliging by holding still for the entire exposure.
